Objectives and Activities
- Enhance preparedness and planning efforts for natural and man-made public health emergencies through plan development and staff training
- Distribute medical countermeasures (e.g., medication or vaccine) during large-scale public health emergency within 48 hours
- Organize and conduct training and exercises for pandemic influenza, Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) deployment, redundant communications, and other response activities
- Educate residents regarding disease prevention and control
- Oversee the Collin County Medical Reserve Corps
- Assist with coordination of functional needs support services for shelter-in-place, evacuation, and sheltering events
- Improve inter-agency and inter-jurisdictional coordination through development of agreements and routine participation with
- hospitals,
- schools,
- city emergency management,
- adjacent county departments,
- Texas Department of State Health Services,
- North Central Texas Council of Government,
- North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council,
- private partners, and
- non-profit, faith-based and community organizations
