Collin County Commissioner Jack Hatchell elected Regional Transportation Council chairman
(McKinney, TX) – Collin County Commissioner Jack Hatchell (Precinct 4) was elected chairman of the Regional Transportation Council (RTC) Thursday in Arlington.
In his new role, Commissioner Hatchell will lead the independent transportation policy body of the Metropolitan Planning Organization. The RTC is responsible for overseeing the metropolitan transportation planning process. It sets priorities for funding of certain highway and arterial street projects. RTC is comprised of 40 elected officials from throughout the Metroplex.
“I’m excited about this role because the continued improvement of mobility and safety for the cities and counties throughout North Central Texas is such an important issue to me,” says Commissioner Hatchell. A professional transportation engineer, Hatchell has represented Collin County on the RTC for the past 14 years.
The RTC recently celebrated its 30th anniversary in the region. As part of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), the RTC discusses issues such as air quality, mobility and safety.
Commissioner Hatchell is immediate past-president of the NCTCOG.
