Collin County residents invited to third outer loop study public meeting
(McKinney, TX) – The Collin County Commissioners Court has initiated a study to prepare for the county’s next major outer-loop thoroughfare. The Collin County Outer Loop Study, to develop consensus on a corridor to preserve for the future Collin County Outer Loop, from U.S. 75 to the Rockwall County line, is now in progress. This study is a continuation of an initial study which began in December 2002 for the section west of U.S. 75. Public involvement has been and continues to be an important part of the study process. Collin County residents are invited to attend a third public meeting to learn more about the study and to share their thoughts.
A public meeting will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2005 in the cafeteria of McClendon Elementary School located at 601 FM 1138 N, Nevada Texas. An open house will begin at 6:30 p.m., and the public meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m.
“We have had two very successful meetings, one in Melissa in February 2005 and one in Farmersville in May 2005,” said Collin County Commissioner Joe Jaynes. “We had great attendance at both meetings and our citizens gave us valuable input on the project. The first ‘town hall’ style meeting focused on the section between U.S. 75 and S.H. 121. Our second public meeting focused on the alternative corridors from S.H. 121 to the east, then south to the Rockwall County line. The August 2005 meeting will focus on the corridor evaluation and alternative alignment development since the May 2005 meeting. We hope that all interested citizens will join us at the August 18, 2005 public meeting.”
Additional public meetings will be scheduled in the future to provide Collin County residents an opportunity to learn more about the Collin County Outer Loop Study and provide comments. Details about future meetings will be announced in local newspapers, project mailings and on the Collin County website, www.collincountytx.gov.
