Collin County Livestock Show runs Jan. 5-8
MCKINNEY, Texas – The Collin County Junior Livestock Show 2011 begins its four-day run here on Wednesday, Jan. 5 at Myers Park & Event Center.
The show consists of entries in poultry, swine, rabbit, horticulture, shop projects, sheep, goats and cattle, with 14 Collin County FFA chapters from school programs in McKinney, Frisco, Plano, Allen and other districts throughout the county. Also represented at the event are several 4H chapters.
The participants show their individual entries throughout the week and the show culminates with an auction and barbecue lunch on Saturday, Jan. 8. The auction rewards the participants for a year of project development and livestock rearing.

Wednesday, Jan. 5
Entries accepted, weigh-in and classification
9 a.m. - Poultry
12 noon - Rabbit
2 p.m. - Market Swine judging and show
Thursday, Jan. 6
8 a.m. - Breeding Sheep – followed by Market Lamb Show
2 p.m. - Breeding Boer Goats and Market Goats judging and show
Friday, Jan. 7
9 a.m. - Shop Project Judging
10 a.m. - Beef Heifer Judging (Beef Master, Brahman, Brangus, Santa Gertrudis, Simbrah, Other American Breeds, Angus, Hereford, Red Angus, Polled Hereford, Shorthorn, Charolais, Limousin, Maine-Anjou, Simmental, Other registered breeds and commercial Heifers)
10 a.m. - Horticulture Show
5 p.m. - Steers Judging (American, English, Exotic)
Saturday, Jan. 8
11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. - Barbecue Lunch
12:30 p.m. - Awards Presentation
1 p.m. – Premium Auction of Animals
The County Show is an entertaining and educational event for the entire fa.m.ily. Admission is free, concessions and tickets for the bar-b-q are available on site.
